Trees of Life Ketubah

In a Jewish wedding ceremony, the chuppah, or canopy under which the bride and groom stand, symbolizes the home the couple will build together. Inspired by this concept, this ketubah depicts the happily married couple sitting together underneath a chuppah made of trees. In Judaism, The Tree of Life is a mystical symbol used in Kabbalah to describe the path to HaShem, or God. The tree-home is strong and bright, enveloping the couple, representing the strength and durability of their love for each other. The chuppah has a ceiling, but no walls, so that the couple may always share their lives with the community. This is why I chose to paint the couple leaning on each other and holding hands, but looking out at the world. May their life together be fulfilling, and always surrounded by the love and support of all those who love them.
